The art of hand-painted colour

Balayage is our most-requested colour technique, and for good reason. By painting colour directly onto the hair by hand, we create soft, sun-kissed dimension that grows out beautifully and requires far less maintenance than traditional highlights. Whether you are after a warm honey blonde or a cooler, ashier result, balayage is fully tailored to your skin tone and natural hair colour.
Pricing varies based on hair length, density and the amount of product used. A consultation is recommended for an accurate quote.
Full Colour
Rich, even colour from root to tip
$130 to $350
Full colour is the perfect choice when you are ready for a complete change or want to achieve consistent, all-over colour. From deep, glossy brunettes to vibrant reds and everything in between, we work with you to find the right shade and formulation for your hair. All full colour services include a conditioning treatment to keep your hair in its best condition.

Root Touch-Up
Fresh colour, right at the source

Keeping your colour looking fresh between appointments is easy with a root touch-up. We precisely match your existing colour and blend it seamlessly into the mid-lengths and ends for a result that looks just-done every time. Ideal for covering greys or maintaining a solid colour

Highlights add light, movement and dimension to your hair by lifting sections to a lighter tone. Whether you prefer fine, natural-looking pieces or chunkier panels for a more defined contrast, our team will tailor the placement and tone to complement your features and base colour perfectly.

Colour correction is one of the most nuanced services in the salon, and one we take seriously. Whether you are dealing with unwanted brassiness, an at-home colour gone wrong, or years of accumulated build-up, our team has the experience to assess your hair honestly and develop a plan that gets you to your goal safely. Results may require more than one session depending on the starting point.

At The Hair Stylist YYC, balayage starts from $200 and can go up to $400 or more depending on your hair length, density, and the complexity of the look. Because every balayage is done by hand and fully customised, we always recommend a consultation to provide an accurate quote.
It depends on the service. Root touch-ups and full colour typically take 1.5 to 2 hours. If a haircut or blow dry is added on, this will extend your appointment time. Colour corrections may take significantly longer and sometimes require multiple sessions. We will always give you a time estimate when you book.
For most colour services, a brief consultation at the start of your appointment is included. For colour correction specifically, we strongly recommend reaching out before booking so we can properly assess your starting point and set realistic expectations for the outcome.
We recommend using a colour-safe, sulphate-free shampoo and a nourishing conditioner to extend the life of your colour. We are happy to recommend products from our salon during your appointment. Avoiding excessive heat styling and using a heat protectant will also help keep your colour looking its best for longer.
